Ben Blount
CTA underpass at Washington Street and Chicago Avenue

This bold and graphic mural by Evanston-based, Detroit-born designer and letterpress printer Ben Blount features text from the city of Evanston’s Resolution to End Structural Racism.

Cheri Lee Charlton
Ridgeville Park District, South Boulevard and Ridge Avenue

Chicago artist Cheri Lee Charlton painted these five benches for Ridgeville Park District in the summer of 2021 to complement her nearby mural.

Tyrue Slang Jones
Green Bay Road and Central Street

Birds of Concern by Chicago artist Tyrue Slang Jones depicts three bird species threatened by climate change: the Blackburnian Warbler, the Red-headed Woodpecker, and the American Kestrel. This project was made possible by the Audoban Mural Project, a national public art initiative bringing public attention to the effects of climate change on bird populations.

Rahmaan Statik
Oakton Elementary School, 436 Ridge Avenue

Chicago artist Rahmaan Statik, who also live-painted a mural with EMAP during Evanston’s 2021 Juneteenth celebration, highlighted Oakton Elementary School’s core values with this colorful and uplifting mural, which features the word “solidarity” written in Statik’s signature graffiti style.

Live painting event at City of Evanston Juneteenth celebration

These two murals depicting themes of freedom and transformation were painted live by artists Rahmaan Statik and Dorian Sylvain during the City of Evanston’s 2021 Juneteenth celebration.
